I Believe in Auburn and Love It As a small girl, family and friends would ask me the infamous question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Most children reply a rock star, a princess, or an astronaut; my reply might sound a tad strange at first, but I wanted to be a tiger. I wanted to be an Auburn tiger to be more exact. Auburn University has been a driving force in my life for as long I can remember. Looking through old photographs I found pictures of me with the eye of the tiger drawn on my diaper for game day to the picture of me on the phone with a recruiter encouraging me to apply to join the Auburn family. When I drive through the small town I feel a sense of warm southern hospitality while meeting friendly members of the Auburn family are the reasons why I believe Auburn University is the right college for me.
Auburn is a small town with a major university, which lives up to its name of “The Loveliest Village on the Plains.” Growing up in a small community with a big, active high school is similar to Auburn in that Auburn is a small town with a big university. The idea of going to college in an atmosphere similar to where I grew up comforts me. After a major win against Ole Miss my family and I followed the massive crowd to Toomer’s Corner to roll the oak trees. We watched a young boy skate through crowds of people on his scooter. My cousin Candis said, “You know Auburn is a safe place when you can let your son skate around on his scooter after major a SEC win.” Watching the young boy made me realize how safe I truly feel at Auburn, and how important that is for me living away from home. A few weeks ago my parents and I traveled to Auburn Univerity for a recruitment day. Throughout the day the student leaders gave testimonies of their college experience, and each student made mention to the “Auburn family.” On the ride home I began to think about what this so called family
