The new provisions for providing a sufficient food supply were forming the Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA) in 1933.This acts main purpose was to provide some kind of financial relief. During this time farmers wealth grew about 50 percent. “The AAA had at its
core a plan to raise crop prices by paying farmers a subsidy to compensate for voluntary cutbacks in production. Funds for the payments would be generated by a tax levied on industries that processed crops” (The Depression in the U.S.--An Overview. (n.d.). Retrieved September 20, 2015.) During this time the government had farmers take some of their land out of production.
One policy that Franklin D Roosevelt implemented that dealt with food is the Snap program. The Snap program was created in 1939. This program helps the farmers out who were struggling to sell the crops. The plan was established to help low income families.
This program was mixed and ended in 1943, but was brought back in 1961 by John F Kennedy. It became law in 1964 by Johnson with his great society. I called the program mixed because it only ended because of the end of WW2 and the economy was very successful. It was brought back because people in 1961 needed help and you had a president felt their pain. Even though the program is mixed, it has lasted the test of time and helped many people out.
