My initial thoughts about going having to go to the zoo for this project was that it was going to be challenging yet fun, Challenging in the sense that with my post traumatic stress disorder from the military because I have trouble being around crowds of people which is why I supposed that is why I chose to go to the Santa Ana zoo since I knew that there would be less people there, Fun in the sense that I have not been to a zoo since I was a little kid which made me excited to not only see the primate exhibit for this project but to also check out some of the other animals that were at the zoo.…
On Wednesday September 16th of 2015, I will be going to the Smithsonian National Zoo with a group of my friends. The Zoo was founded in 1889. It is one of the oldest zoos in the world. There are 1800 animals that live in the zoo. One of the most famous spots in the zoo for tourists to see is the Giant Panda exhibit. The giant pandas recently just gave birth to baby pandas. I have only been to the Smithsonian National Zoo once. I went in eighth grade for a school wide field trip. I love seeing animals and going to the zoo. Back where I am from (Delaware) there are not any zoos or big public attractions for young kids and teenagers.…

Visiting the zoo is a fun family activity that 175 million people do each year (“Zoo Statistics”). However, the animals in the zoo are treated horribly. As a kid, visiting the zoo was one of my favorite activities. I loved watching the animals and spending time with my family, but as I grew older, my joy of the zoo diminished when I realized what was happening to the animals. The mighty tiger that was once strutting across the grass is now a dreary, unhealthy animal that walks aimlessly just to pass the time. Many animals die an unnatural death because of the treatment they receive in zoos and the lack of space reserved for them. Zoos promise to bring in animals that are either endangered or unhealthy; however, a remarkable number of animals…
. LA zoo is fantastic and there are plenty of animals to observe. The employees were friendly and provided educational facts to the public. This is the second time that I visit LA Zoo because I want to observe the activities and behavior of some selected primates. I spent most of the time observing all the animals and learning about them and their native habitats. LA Zoo is laid out by continental area, so the primate exhibits are scattered throughout the zoo. I began with the New World monkey located in the South American section of the zoo. In exhibit area 75, I saw three species of New World monkeys. All of these species have prehensile tails. These species are the black-handed spider monkey, black howler monkey, and crested capuchin monkey.…
For the primate observation project I went to the Santa Barbara zoo to observe and contrast different types of primates. I observed one species of an old world monkey, which was a gorilla and two different species of new world monkeys, which were the Bolivian Grey Titi Monkey and also the Golden Lion Tamerin.…
What does our future hold for us? Will it fulfill our wishes and dreams? Will we have a happy family? Well in order to worry about our future, we have to learn from our past and how we have changed. About 65 million years ago, a meteor hit Earth and primates started to show up and eventually lead to our creation. There are many different kinds of primates that we have studied and learned from. We can go to different places to view and understand their life style. The Fort Worth zoo is one of those places where I went to observe and learn. I got to observe two white-cheeked gibbons and three ring-tailed Lemurs. Apart from their difference they also have some similarities.…

In summation, land and wildlife study and conservation remains an important issue. Ever growing numbers of people enjoy visiting wild parks, however, they must also remain aware of the true reason the parks exist. Zoos claim that they replenish endangered species by taking them into a safer environment with helping hands, being protected from habitat loss, malnourishment and predators. Numerous zoo owners claim that restoring endangered species is their motivation and prime goal. It has also been argued that, in today 's society, where animals deal with constant threats, zoos are the number one harmless places for wild animals. Zoo authorities do not entitle themselves with the best performance of zoo workers; in fact they admit to the different problems that captivated animals tend to suffer over. Nonetheless, they additionally expect people to appreciate the sincere efforts taken by them to defend and realm wild…

National environmental organizations included Friends of the Earth, National Audubon Society, Sierra Club, The Nature Conservancy, and Wilderness Society had chapters or offices in Massachusetts. The Appalachian Mountain Club was regional, with chapters throughout the Northeast U.S. By contrast, Mass Audubon, Trustees of Reservations and MASSPIRG confined their activities to Massachusetts. Although organizations sometimes worked in coalitions to advocate specific political agenda, they also competed for funding and, to some extent, for members. On occasion, some of them had even competed for the same piece of environmentally sensitive property. The Nature Conversancy protected 17,000 acres in the state, Mass Audubon held 29,000 acres, and The Trustees of Reservations had more than 45,000 acres. Many other nonprofit organizations operated individual sanctuaries and nature centers or preserved land from development through land trusts.…
