The Battle of Dasman Palace
Around 0400 (4:00 AM), Iraqi forces commenced their attack on Dasman Palace – the residence of the Emir of Kuwait. Around this time, Iraqi commandos in civilian clothes began attacking around Kuwait City. Their assault on Dasman Palace was especially aggressive and continued into midafternoon. Despite a spirited defence by the Emiri Guard, the Iraqis eventually took the site. In the process, they killed Sheikh Fahd al-Ahmad, a well-liked member of the ruling family.
