Refers to Purdue University’s Student Success and Co-Curricular Assessment Team, the definition of co-curricular is pertaining to activities contributing to the academic learning experience; especially activities that provide students with opportunities to learn and develop skills through active participation. Co-curricular
activities and programs may be led by faculty or staff, or by students themselves, but they must have stated goals and measured outcomes.
These activities are important in the sense that they keep the balance of the development of the students. These activities also keep the students busy in school-related activity, which might also helps in maintaining the discipline in school. Game, sports, cultural performances, house-systems, debates, literature, painting etc. are some of the co- curricular activities.
School curriculum includes several important activities which are for group, individual or outside the school. Some of the activities are internal, while other is external. Internal activities are performed within the school premises, while external activities are performed outside the school, where students might also represent the school. It earns the name and fame for the whole school. Games, sports, debates, essay competition etc. all can be put as physical and mental activities.
Co-curricular activities are very important in school. Only teaching work or bookish knowledge is not sufficient for developing of the child. It has simple psychological effects such as stress, which might leads to further effects.
