The Best Job
If offered, would you take a position that required you to be on the job five to six – hour a day, and offered no wages or sick days? For me this job is being a good housewife and cook, although it’s the most difficult job to me. I liked it, and it became the best job. Since I was a little girl, my grandmother told me “If you want to be a smart wife and make your husband love you and interested, you should learn to be a good cook.” Since that time, I kept those words in my mind. Besides that, my husband is eating four to five meals in one day. He does not like routine in his food, so he wants to make a variety of different kinds of food for him without repeating any in the same day or week. Being a perfect cook was one of the most demanding and exhausting jobs I ever performed. Instead of a weekly paycheck, I get paid in the form of a smile and gratification which is a result of the wholehearted dedication when I make delicious food for my husband. As old women in my country say,” The best way and nearest road to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” Because I love him, I decided to do everything to reach for this road. So I learned how to use spices and flavoring. It was a very important tip because, if the food is without flavor, it will be without taste. One of the many benefits I get from this job is the sense of pride that I feel when I ever hear my husband talk about my cooking with his friend or his relatives, or when anyone of them asks me to help with their occasions. The second benefit, is discover a new ideas or kinds by trying to do various foods in the everyday, and the third interesting benefit I get, is that I win my husband’s admiration. Finally, it is the
