The Blix Effect Movie
Fern was watching The Blix Effect for the second time today, but it didn’t go as she thought it would a few days ago. For starters, she definitely wasn’t as excited to watch as she was before, the movie felt stale and boring; like bread that has been left out for too long, but don’t get her wrong the movie is fantastic. Next, she wasn’t to interested in her friends’ conversations; they were mostly the same from yesterday. She did converse and add on to whatever they were saying; yes, she has noticed how a movie doesn’t objectify women, or no, she doesn’t think that a sequel is need, etc. In fact, Fern just wanted to go home, and actually talk with Abby for once. She wanted to go and explore the new level of understanding between the two of …show more content…
4. Though they are different, they have each others’ backs.”. She lets out a small smile just as the words “The Blix Effect” explode onto the screen. She knows Abby hasn’t done her already late homework and is probably painting her nails or something, or moping about how she isn’t at Homecoming, but still Fern wants to be there for that, she wants to fathom the similarities and the diversity between the two of them. Her friends always stay until the very end to make sure there isn’t a hidden scene to give away any hints towards a sequel; they all know there isn’t an extra scene, they did the same thing last night, but still here they are. Finally, the credits roll through and the lights flicker back on, and her companions start to get up and leave, carefully balancing all of the trash they’ve assembled. “Fern, it’s your turn to choose where we get to eat today.” one they says. Almost as if on cue, Fern gets text from Abby saying “Hey ik wat I said a few days ago was mean but im rlly sorry and I didnt mean it at all so pls hurry im bored and stupid and I need help oh and also if I got to go to homecoming leaving things they were before or being here with u now then id def be with

32 “Well its actually happening ma’, I’m goin’ back to school.”Rufus said. “I want you to know, I truly am proud of you Rufus.” His mother replied. Curtis and Janet went to a different school then Rufus but he still walked them to school then walked himself to school. On his way to school a car followed him very slowly but Rufus kept walking. When he got to school it looked the same on the outside that it always had. Rufus pushed open the doors at Searingtown School and yelled “I’m back!” All of his friends ran over to hug him. He went down to the office to get a tour he thought he didn’t need because he remembered every single solitary thing about this place. While the tour was going on everything going on was a blur. He looked left, right and left again, admiring the changes the school had made. “Wow” he sighed. “Is there a problem Rufus?” the tour guide asked. Rufus answered, “When I was here the wall paint was all chipped, there were broken windows and holes in the walls.” “Oh ok, well that concludes our tour and this door on your right is your first period class.” The tour guide replied. Rufus walked in and sat at an available seat at the back of the class room. He opened his notebook and took notes even though he didn’t understand anything that was going on. By the time 5th period came around it was time for lunch he was starving. All of his friends called him over and asked him to sit with him. Momma didn’t make him a big lunch because they didn’t have that much food in the house and then needed to split it 3 different ways. Allison who used to have a big crush on Rufus sat right next to him. Mitchell and Charlie sat across from him and Christina, Alisha and Sammy sat around them. When the bell rang he went to his locker and when he got to class he looked out the window and saw the same car that followed him to school. The only person he thought of was Simon. But he didn’t have a car? Rufus ran to the office to explain the…

Appearances are but a mask, one which is crafted and molded to our benefit. This is true in everyday eventualities from applying for a job to even hypothetical scenarios such as the apocalypse where survival is a matter of not letting others know your weaknesses. For instance the writers of the series Quarantine have adroitly layered out a story filled with half-truths and deceit, but also filled with an honest disposition of the characters trying to survive at all costs. This is especially true the sequel to Quarantine: The Loners.…

How about we begin by addressing the elephant in the room: Ridley Scott has been in a slump for the past decade or more. In 1979 he redefined the space film with Alien, in 1982 he crafted his gritty science fiction masterwork Blade Runner, and in 2000 he won the Academy Award for Best Picture with Gladiator. Obviously, a stunning repertoire, but what has he directed since then? Mediocre film after mediocre film. Whether it be Kingdom of Heaven, Robin Hood, Prometheus, or The Counselor, Scott has been far from par for as long as I can remember. And Hollywood being a "what have you done for me lately" type of town, you can understand the misgivings I had when I bought my ticket to see his latest effort. Much to my extremely pleasant surprise, The Martian is Ridley's return…

“Ugh!”, he grunts from how large the suitcase is. “Will you be able to carry that, Scottie?” she says, her face, worn from time, twists with concern for her son. “Of course”, he laughs. “Okay, if you’re sure.” She says as she opens the metal gate to the front yard. They slowly walk through the cracked pathway until they reach the steps to the porch. Beatrice opens the sturdy door with her keys. “Honey, I’m home!” Scottie yells into the empty living room. “Must you do that every time you come inside the house?” She says fondly. “Of course, I must.” He says as if she should already have known the answer. While they were talking, Alice and Jake, Scottie’s younger siblings, heard his announcement and excitedly ran out of their room and down the beige stairs. “Stop making all that racket!” she admonishes her children. “SCOTTIE!” they yell out enthusiastically. “You’re home!” Alice states, full of wonder that her big older brother is finally back where he belongs. “Well, it’s obvious that I’m home unless I’m an imposer who’s secretly an alien”, He jokes, winking at Alice. “I definitely didn’t miss your humor,” Jake lightheartedly says. “Oh, come on, I tell the best jokes”, Scottie says smiling. “Yeah right, in your dreams”, Jake jokingly teases. “Leave your brother alone for right now. He had a long trip and he’s probably exhausted.” Beatrice gently tells to her…

However, his mother tells him that Rachel is suddenly diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Thus, Greg listens to his mom and follows what she wants him to do. His main goal is to get to know her better since their break up, and help cheer her up since Greg is a humorous guy. This is a person vs person conflict, mom vs Greg. Everyday, after school, Greg always sits on the couch, and watches television. His mom comes in everyday, just to see if he has called Rachel yet. However, Greg keeps on procrastinating. But he knows that no matter what, he will have to call her anyways because he can never ‘‘fight [with his] mom [since she] is unstoppable’’ (Andrews 55). Thus, Greg finally decides to call Rachel although he really does not want to. A week passes by, his mom checks on Greg and asks if he called Rachel yet. This time, Greg tells her that Rachel ‘‘won’t even let [him] say anything. She just hangs up!’’ (Andrews 54). Consequently, Greg is discouraged and gives up, therefore, he does not succeed since the first step on getting closer to Rachel is to call her and set up a date so they can hangout together.
