Picasso created Guernica as a result of the bombing of Guernica by Nazi planes.
This painting shows the horrors of the war and has come to be a symbol of anti-war. This painting is a reminder of the tragedies of war. On the mural, there are several victims of the bombing, including men, women, and children. There is a figure in the foreground of the painting that appears to be a corpse and is on both sides by living people with their heads thrown back, also the figure to the left is a mother holding a baby who seems to have died as a cause of the bombing. This is a devastating thing to see in a painting that symbolizes so
much. Victor Juhasz is an Upstate New York-based illustrator and visual reporter. He creates pieces of artwork that symbolize sort of what America has come to. He says his sketches have “beautiful flaws” (Newman, 2017). Some of the drawings are cartoons of Donald Trump. One of the drawings is Donald Trump with his mouth open, eating the people of the community, thus symbolizing how he is just in control of everything and that he has power. There are other paintings he has that uses symbolization, like one he drew with a military man with his two legs cut off on a hospital bed, and his sons are also with him. Basically, symbolizing how going to war affects your loved ones and your life. I feel like his paintings really show how America is right now because Trump is getting us all into a heap of a mess. Sooner or later, we will be going to war if Trump keeps on with his nonsense, Victor shows, in his drawings, how controlling Trump can be. Whether anyone agrees with what Victor is drawing or not, I agree with him and I feel like he should express and show how bad America is getting. Overall, I feel that the painting Guernica was a different way to show the devastation of the bombing of Guernica. Not many people would look at that mural and think that it was a real event. Like myself, many people would just think it is a weird painting, but further into why it was created is interesting.
