again. John receives a vision of Jesus descending from the clouds and that everyone around the world will see him. Jesus tells John to write to the seven churches of Asia. It also tells about the appearance of Jesus. How he is standing in a robe with a golden sash with seven lampstands surrounding him, with fiery eyes and carrying seven stars in His right had and how His face shines as bright as the sun. John is told not to be afraid and to write down everything that he sees. In the next two chapters, John begins to write to the seven churches.
He begins to write to church of Ephesus. The church is doing well and Jesus is pleased with those Christians, although there is something he wants to tell them. Jesus has noticed that they have lost feeling for Him and one another. If they do not change, Jesus claims that He will remove their lampstand, which is their salvation. If they do change, they will receive eternal life. He also has a message for the church of Smyrna. The Jews don’t consider the Christians as a part of the religious building anymore. If they don’t change that belief, they will be punished, but if they do change, they will receive a crown. Jesus sees that the church of Pergamum are doing poor. They are making sacrifices to the Roman gods and following false prophets. If they change, they will receive what they want. For the church of Thyatira, Jesus knows about Jezebel and the things she has done. Jezebel is a woman that is doing sexual things with many, and it’s wrong. Jesus has tried to stop her, but she won’t. People who are following Jesus will be rewarded. Jesus is noticing that the church of Sardis is alive, but not really. They need to realize that they are doing bad and need to get back to doing what’s right. If they can’t fix themselves, they too will be punished. If they repent, their names will be written in the Book of Life. Jesus knows that the people of Philadelphia church have stayed faithful to him, and Jesus tells …show more content…
them to remain faithful. If they do they will have His name written on them. For the church of Laodicea, they are not doing good, but they are not doing bad either. Jesus sees that some of the Christians are bragging about being wealthy, but really are doing very poor. Jesus needs them to open their eyes and find Jesus to become rich. Once John tells all of this, Jesus opens up the door to Heaven and tells John to come in. Inside, John is amazed by all that he sees. He sees God’s throne and 24 other thrones with 24 elders sitting in them. They all look similar to one another. They are all wearing robes with golden crowns and their thrones with lightning. God’s throne contains seven torches surrounding it and a sea of crystal in front of it. Around God, there are 4 creatures. There’s a lion, human, eagle, and an ox. They have eyes covering their whole body and have 6 wings. All day they sing and praise God.
In this chapter, God is holding a scroll with seven seals. John notices a scroll that God is holding. One of the angels is worrying and saying that nobody in Heaven and Earth is worthy of opening the scroll. Then an elder reminds God about Jesus. There is a lamb that has seven horns and seven eyes. Jesus is the lamb. When He takes the scroll, everyone in heaving falls and bows down before the Lamb.
The Lamb begins to open the seals. John begins to see a white horse with its rider. The rider is wielding a bow and is wearing a crown. When the second seal is opened, john sees a red horse with its rider wielding a sword. The third seal is opened, a black horse with its rider and he has a pair of scales. The fourth seal is opened and a green horse appears. Its rider being Death. The fifth seal is opened and john sees the souls of the Christians that has martyred. When the fifth seal is opened, a scarce event occur. There’s an earthquake, the sun turns black, the moon turns to blood, and the stars fall out of the sky. Everyone runs to hide. John then sees four angels standing at the four corners of the Earth. The angels are holding the Earth to make sure it doesn’t get damaged. Then 144,000 people are sealed. Then he sees people wearing white robes with palm leaves. They praise the heavens. Lastly, the seventh seal is opened. It is silent for a while and nothing seems to be happening. Then seven angels appear, each holding a trumpet, stand in front of God. When the first angel begins to blow his trumpet, hail, fire, and blood fall from the sky unto Earth. The second angel blows and a burning mountain falls into the sea. The third angel blows and a star falls from the sky and pollutes the water. When the fourth angel blows his trumpet, the sun, the moon, and the stars become dim. Next, the fifth angel blows his trumpet and a huge bottomless pit on Earth opens up and a swarm of locust come out. The locust attack everyone but those with God’s mark on their head. Then the sixth angel blows his trumpet and four angels of death appear and kill a third of the people on the planet. Two million horses appear and trample everything in their way. The horses have heads like lions and breath smoke and fire. Those too kill a lot of people.
I have talked about the chapters we have gone over in class.
All of this is claimed to be true by John. These are just some of the many events that was happen in the end times. You should be prepared for when Jesus returns. Nobody knows when he will come back, that is why you should always be ready. If you are not ready, you will be punished and will suffer. Those who are ready will have nothing to
fear.
