1) The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a very emotional book that shows the life and friendship of two boys. One is a Jew, Schmuel, in a Nazi concentration camp during World War 2 and the other is the son of the newly appointed Kommendant of Auschwitz concentration camp, Bruno.
Some of the themes covered in the book are Bruno being bombarded with propaganda and his family breaking down throughout the course of the book. This book also shows how little the Germans understood about what was happening during the war.
