“The Candidate” I think that the movie tries to say to society, the way in which a person lives a political campaign, as well as the handling and the appareances that a person has to have in the political world, can bring many changes to the life of the candidate. In this case the candidate is Bill McKay, many things change in terms of public aspect with public media, public opinion, the citizens and also in the private aspect as it is with his family, specifically with his wife and his father. They provide the basis for a good political campaign, such as propaganda and other such matters. In this case the party that represents Bill McKay is the Democratic Party even he does not have a clear political message to communicate. However, there are issues he is interested in and this opportunity presents a public platform and the facility to be in a position to communicate his ideas. On the other hand, his opponent is a popular Republican, Crocker Jarmon. These two candidates represent the two major political parties in the United States of …show more content…
This encourages people to vote for him as demonstrated in the scene where the campaign team and Bill McKay are reviewing the videos recorded with the public to present a TV commercial. Bill asks why those scenes were not added to the video recordings that they made in the health center, to which his campaign team then explains him the reason of why they did not do that. They go on to show him video and he realizes how bad it is trying to present their proposals and ideas to people who were there. The two women and their small children responded very arrogantly, while their children cried, about how will McKay be able to remedy all their problems since they are clearly in poverty and illness along with their young children. This clearly implied that they are the most marginalized sectors of the population, even Bill McKay stops talking with them at the moment and he sees how the women ignorde him. At this point they stopped the videotaped, Bill McKay realized it would not be good to put this clip in the video recording to be released on television, because that could deteriorate his image and would be exposed by a single person questioning his proposals, because a good public image is the essence for a good
