The Cause Of Suicide

In today’s world, people have found different ways of dealing with their problem. For example, one of the ways they have dealt with problems is by turning to both alcohol and drugs. Some people even look out suicide as a way out. The main reasons why people turn to a substance like drugs and alcohol is because they feel lonely, depressed, and they try to escape reality. When a person feels depressed, the only way he or she can cure that empty gap is by filling it with drugs and alcohol. Instead of turning to a loved one, they rather be alone and deal with their pain by using drugs and alcohol. There are times when a person reacts in mixed emotions such as happiness, sadness, and even aggressiveness. These are some symptoms a person has when
a drug has either been out of his or her system or when they need it in their system. That is also the situation with prescription drugs, people need them to survive because they make them feel as if they are flying or on clouds. Misuse of prescription drugs can lead to overdose, addiction and death.
This is the reason why doctors are only supposed to prescribe prescription drugs to those with really bad pain. Alcohol has the same effect on humans because when a person is drunks their body craves all types of drugs and that can cause a person to commit suicide and maybe even hurting other innocent people. Most people who deal with depression do not have support; therefore, to relieve them from depression, they depend on alcohol, illegal, as well as prescription drugs. Abusing these substances may lead to addiction and suicidal tendencies.
Suicide has a huge impact in our society because people are taking their lives for negative reasons. One main reason is because they are abusing drugs and alcohol. Those are some major risk that leads to suicide. The authors state, “It is not surprising that suicide is a leading cause of death among people who abuse drugs and alcohol” (Ross, et al 170). In other words, people are abusing these substances and they are dying because they have no care in the world. But in reality we do not know what these people are feeling or why they decide to take their life. They might be under pressure, stress, or depress. When a
person feel under pressure he or she will begin to crave the only thing that makes them feel good; therefore, drugs and alcohol take a presence in that part of their life because they feel as too much pressure and they try to ease some of it off. Stress can also have a major impact which makes people get addicted to drugs and alcohol and makes them think that is the only ways to deal with stress. People feel that stress can be cured for drugs and alcohol because they are not strong enough to deal with it on their own. The author writes, “What is known, however, is that individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs) often seek treatment at times when their drug use difficulties are at their peak” (Ross, et al 170). When they are at their worst that is when they begin to look for treatment. But why should they look for treatment if it is already too late. Even though he was on the wrong path there is always a day when they can change it and become a new person, even if it take years. When a person cares about someone they should help that an individual changes his life, if they really care about that person, he or she should of stop them from using drugs and alcohol in the first place? The thing is that people do not always notice that a love one or even a friend is on these substances. We as people who care are too blind to see the wrong things they are doing. We rather live under denial and look at the person for whom we think he or she is; however, not everyone thinks the same, some people would criticize you by the way you look while drinking alcohol or when you are on drugs.
Most of us have seen people struggle and gone through a bad experience; whereas, they have tried to commit suicide because of being under the influence.
As a matter of fact, prescription drugs are also being used for suicide attempts. Even though prescription drugs are over the counter drugs and have to be recommended by a doctor people enjoy the way they make them feel. That is what prescription drugs are supposed to make people feel better. In the article, “Adolescent Drug-Related ER Visits and Suicide Attempts” say, “Acetaminophen products were the most commonly used substances involved in hospital ER visits by female adolescents attempting suicide” (4). In other words, acetaminophen is a common drug female use while tries to attempt suicide. Acetaminophen is a drug that relieves pain and reduces fever and many other things. If acetaminophen are prescribed by a doctor it should not have any danger towards it. The danger only occurs when people, misuse of the medicine. If you are supposed to take only one every couple of hours as the doctors has recommended then you should do as he or she says. At times the pain does not cure and you feel like taking another one to reduce pain. Even though it is beneficial to take this drug because it would help you get better. Acetaminophen is also not beneficial because people can become addicts because of how strong the drug is. The drug also has some side effect like unusual tiredness or weakness. This is typically usual because your
body stat to drain because of so many pills you take a day which causes you to become tired or weak. Although doctors do recommend this drug it is up to people to do the smart thing and follow direction as they are given instead of going ahead and putting their life at risk. This is unfortunate because we are not strong enough to say no, so people rather spent time in the ER. Those are the humans who need help but are afraid to ask.
