On February 2nd, 1943 the Germans surrender. There were
2,000,000 causality’s. Paulus could have broken from the counter attack but was
forbidden to by Hitler. Hitler ordered Paulus to “Fight to the last bullet” and even
promoted him to field marshal.
D-Day was a major event during World War II. D-Day as going to be on June 5th
1944. It was delayed due to bad weather. “Later that day 5,000 ships and 11,000 planes
were deployed”. (Howarth, David R.) The invasion began at 6:30 am on June 6th, 1944.
America suffered 2,000 casualties in this battle. Allied forces suffered 4,000 causalities.
There were 156,000 troops deployed. One week later on June 11th, 326,000 more troops
got there. 50,000 vehicles also arrived with 100,000 tons of equipment.
