The Color Purple Monologue
I remember everything so vividly. Too vividly it hurts my head. How did I end up in this position? How did I end up watching my sister die? Blood was spilling from her mouth. She was struggling, and I grabbed my silver dagger and stabbed her in the heart. No pity. It was gonna happen sooner or later. I just made it happen sooner.

There’s a system in our village called the Trials where we fight. Fight until only one person is selected, and the winner is left with the Royal Family's money. You don’t understand how desperately we need the money. Me and my sister have lived on the streets ever since someone came and murdered my parents. The trials are a population control system that lures the lower class into fighting. The poor needed to die

“Everyone must fight until there is only one person left”. Only one person left in the room. The trial is held in a sandy maze in a stadium. Scorpions and other big insects roam the maze. The king stands in front of the labyrinth. He brings a whistle to his mouth, ready to start the trials, but he doesn't blow. Why isn't he blowing? I turn around and I stop dead in my tracks. The black plague. The people on the streets that have the black plague. They run towards us with torches lit up. Every single one of them has black on them. at their fingertips. their hands. Their toes. All black. The king watches in horror. I turn to my sister, but she's not there. She ran to the exit door. I run into the maze, I don't stop even when my legs are hurting. Even when I feel like throwing up at the sight of the black body parts. I reach a dead end, look to my left and see a …show more content…
The “Why would you do it”? I screamed. She looks horrified at me. The words start tumbling out of her. “Me and mother fought, she didn't want me to be a blacksmith, she wanted her perfect daughter to be a housewife. I got angry and it was an accident”. Tears ran from her eyes. “Dad saw everything so I had to kill him too”. She starts to cry. Her sadness fades into darkness. Her mood changes and I can see in her eyes she feels no pity. “Revenge is something you can never feel guilty about,” she says. I grabbed her throat and slowly took out a silver dagger. I see my reflection in it, and it's something I've never seen before. Corruption. I grabbed the dagger and slowly grazed her cheeks. Blood starts pouring out immediately. Mark S.W. Sophie Wonder. The anger is burning my skin. I grabbed the dagger and stabbed her in the arm. She hissed at the pain. Elisa Wonder, my sister is a

*sniffles* Ever hands so pure and graced by God, had I not thought to be involved in such malice and cruelty. And yet here I sit, waiting for mine robes to incarnadine, too. From whence did such evil accumulate inside her, for which she desired immensely to seek power? I - she hath been given everything - a loving and loyal husband, a place of nobility, and even the favour of Duncan, the King himself. Yet I hunger’d for more.…

I honestly had no clue what was happening to me. Anyway… You’re probably wondering, “why should I care,” since it happens so often? The answer is, because I got a mere twenty feet, and everything went dark. When I collapsed, my Mom apparently screamed, “someone call 911!” When woke up, I saw Mom and Dad through my hazy vision, and then it went dark again. I don’t remember anything else from that LL Bean trip except that we were there because I needed new hiking boots for our trip to the Rocky Mountains the week after. When I woke up the next time, I woke up just to vomit on the chair that my Mom had abandoned, mere seconds before. It was close. I heard Mom say, “what’s wrong with her? She’s never acted like this before…” Unfortunately, before the conversation ended, I had fallen asleep. The last time I woke up was when it was dark outside. “Where am I?” I asked…

Sister, the word felt like poison on my tongue. Regret and sadness washed over me thinking about my previous actions. How could I kill my own sister? How could I kill anyone? What have I become? I screamed out in anger, anger at the world for making me like this. I don’t deserve to live. I know what I need to do. I ran down to the kitchen, my heart aching with every step I take, thinking about all those lives I ruined, and the ones I ended. I grabbed the knife with trembling hands, mumbling a silent apology, wanting to scream it out to the whole world. The sound of police sirens filled the pained silence and I knew what I had to do next, I pierced the knife into my heart. I heard the familiar sound of my mom screaming incoherent words, that was the last thing I ever heard before I fell into an eternal…

“I don’t care what you want, Emma. You’ve already taken something import…ant…” She suddenly stopped and left her speech unfinished, froze and quickly shifted her eyes to the floor, then back to me, and back to the floor. She was silent for a few seconds, which felt like minutes, as if she has just said something she has been keeping back for many years now. I started yelling at her and her eyes met mine. All I could see was how hurt she was and how deep inside, she was just like me – allowed to take in an amount of mental damage and pain at a time, before falling apart. She started tearing up like I never seen before and she just fell to the ground. She always acted so tough and this was probably the first time I seen her tear up ever since her husband got involved with a plane…
