The Controversial Issue Of Illegal Immigration
A very important issue pressing our nation today is a topic that is very controversial and the center of many heated debates and this topic is immigration.To be more specific it is illegal immigration that is the main issue and there are two very different standpoints on how to deal with it.
On open immigration i think that by implementing the Obama administration reforms that we will be condoning and incentivizing illegal immigration that would belittle the policies that have been put in place already by granting millions of illegal immigrants amnesty. This will demean the immigration process and entice more people to illegally immigrate.This action is justified by the American immigration council because of the claim that it will cause economic
growth and increase the amount of tax payers by millions”Bringing millions of workers who are already living and working here out of the shadows and into the full, open economy will be good for American workers and for local economies around the nation."(American immigration council).
In opposition to the Obama administration restricted immigration aims to remove all amnesty measures that will weaken our immigration laws and further damage our country.As said by the Federation for Immigration Reform the ammounts of illegal and mass immigration are detrimental to the economy.”The evidence that illegal immigration and mass immigration are harming our country is overwhelming and irrefutable. Congestion, environment, crime, health care, education — the costs are too high for the American family to continue to bear.”(7-principles-of true-comprehensive-immigration reform).
I think that although immigration is a very important factor to how our country has developed historically and economically i think that the open immigration reforms that condone mass immigration and amnesty will be very harmful.A amnesty program has already been attempted and failed and it has been shown that instead of deterring illegal immigration it has increased it.(“The 1986 amnesty was a failure; rather than reducing illegal immigration, it led to an increase. Any new amnesty measure will further weaken respect for our immigration law. Therefore, all amnesty measures must be defeated.)”
