The laity's primary vocation is the call to holiness. This universal vocation is to be lived out in union with the whole Church. Therefore, as the laity are becoming more prepared today than ever before for the work of evangelization, it is important that there be great collaboration and unity between the ordained ministers, the consecrated ministers and the lay ministers of the Church. Prayer, maturity, and spiritual zeal for the salvation of souls are required to put aside any differences of opinions or personalities that can surface when various people are seeking the will of God through their…

It is of great amazement that there are over seven-thousand catholic schools in America. Catholic education dates back to as far as the year 1606. By the latter 1600's, English colonists had set up their own, publicly supported schools. During the same period, Catholic education progressed in non-British America: In New Orleans, the Franciscans opened a school for boys in 1718. The Ursulines opened one for girls in 1727.…

Following the passing of the current abbess in 1137, I was chosen to be the new abbess. Rather than continuing as part of a monastery with units for both women and men under the management of a male, in 1147 I decided to move the monastery to Rupertsberg, where the convent wasn’t completely under the supervision of a male or male house. This gave me much more liberty as a commissioner, and I traveled regularly in France and German. In making the move to Rupertsberg I was following the order of God. I anticipated a stiff position, lying like a rock, the move of my convent was finally concluded in the year 1151.…
