The Civil War broke out in 1861, and lasted until 1865 .This drastic five year quarrel put the North and South against each other; the North became known as the Union while the South was referred to as a Confederacy. Before the war, the main disagreement was either to promote slavery or abolish it, so as a result, a war stirred up. Slavery was a time of harsh plantation work for colored people, while they were owned by rich whites. The actions of slavery were very cruel, so the Union had a valid point by fighting it off. Abraham Lincoln was one of those who opposed slavery and tried to abolish it during his presidency with the Thirteenth Amendment. It was already dying out since it was not profitable. The same could’ve happened in the South,
