Texting and driving kills 5,000 people a year. It is a very dangerous thing to do. Statistics show that most of the people dying while texting and driving are teens. It can lead to very horrible accidents on the road. Texting while driving is dangerous. It is dangerous because while you’re reading a text, you’re eyes aren’t looking at the road for at least 3 seconds, maybe even more. An accident can happen in under a second. While you’re looking at your messages, someone could pull right out in front of you and there you have an accident. Another thing about texting and driving is that it is illegal, especially if you’re under the age 18. You could get a ticket if you get pulled over while texting and driving. You
can even get pulled over if you’re simply talking on the phone. The fines for getting pulled over doing these things can be very big, depending on the state that you’re in. Another reason for why texting and driving is dangerous is, if you do get in an accident, think of the other person. The other person could get seriously injured or maybe even die. That is going to take a lot of money from you. The other person’s family could also be seriously hurt, emotionally, physically, or maybe even both. You would have to live with that thought. You could also get seriously hurt or maybe even die. Think of how your family would feel. In conclusion, texting and driving is very unsafe. You could get seriously hurt and or someone else could get seriously hurt. Fines for getting pulled over while texting and driving can be very hefty. A lot of lives can be lost because of texting and driving. That is why you should stay off your phone, maybe even toss it into the backseat so it doesn’t distract you.
