The Day Todd Parks' Life Changed Forever Their day began as usual, as my dad always said to me, "We all share the same process. Wake up, get dressed, yearn for sleep, get over it, drive to work, get the job done, go home and sleep." Their process was delayed when something tragic out of the ordinary happened. Around 4:30 A.M. Rancho was practically empty besides six men: Todd Parks, Bill Bertolucci, Scott Parks, Mike Sugars, Rick Krist, and Jim Krist. They were out on a large open concrete area that slanted at an awkward angle. The area was usually being occupied by trucks coming to pick up raw meat. The place was surrounded by what seemed to be a million chunks of butchered meat as well as a plethora of cows waiting to be slaughtered. During their normal morning banter an incident took place unexpectedly. "Haha, yeah cause that's totally true," my dad said sarcastically. "I swear it's completely true!" Rick Krist laughingly replied. My dad quickly responded in panic, "Rick, Todd! Todd's on the ground!" It was early in the morning on July 18, 2013 at the large and eerie Rancho facility when Todd Parks life was changed. "Suddenly Todd just collapsed, he just fell," my father explained to my family later that week. "Jim call 911! I think he's having a heart attack!" yelled Mike Sugars. Mike is a San Francisco police officer, at the time he was obviously off duty though. Everyone ran over to Todd with frightened looks, thinking they were about to lose a close friend. Instead of hesitating, they helped keep Todd alive, everybody knew CPR so Parks was in luck. Mike and Rick quickly knelt down and gave Todd chest compressions. My dad kept Todd's airway clear, and Scott carefully monitored his brothers breathing and counted the number of chest compressions. "After Jim contacted 911 it felt like we were waiting forever, waiting for something that would never come, but in reality the response time was only five minutes," said my father
