The Death Cure
For my 1st book report, I read a book called The Death Cure and was created by the skilled author, James Dashner, who notably created the Maze Runner series. This book is the third and final book in the Maze Runner series and takes place after the book The Scorch Trials. The perspective the book is told in is third-person omniscient as it doesn’t use the word “I” and is told by the author with no reference to himself. This is normally what perspective James Dashner usually writes in which I know from reading his previous books.
The main characters of The Death Cure are Thomas, Rat-man, Minho, Newt, Teresa and Brenda. Thomas is the main protagonist of the story and is apparently the most important subject in finding the cure for the Flare since

However, Thomas and his friends didn’t trust Rat-Man and WICKED and they thought were just gonna kill them to get the cure because of their past experiences with them in the Maze and in the Scorch. In Denver after the swipe is removed, Thomas and his friends are again captured but this time by the Right Arm, a group that protested against WICKED, after running away from the House of Cranks. The Right Arm asked them if they wanted to join in against in their attack against WICKED and they said yes. The climax of the story was when Thomas went back to the WICKED and tried to stop them once and for all with the help of the Right Arm and his friends. The falling action was when Thomas and his friends were back in the Maze with all of the hundreds and hundreds of Immunes and started running to the Flat Trans, paradise, from the exploding Maze and WICKED headquarters that was caused by the Right Arm. The resolution was when all the immunes settled in the Flat Trans, a place of beauty and without

These two opposing forces are best represented by two of the novel 's principal characters: Victor and Thomas-Builds-the-Fire. Victor, raised in poverty by an alcoholic, "failure" of a father, can only see the past through dark colored glasses. For him, the past is a force that, more often than not, leaves disaster in its wake; the tragedy of the past begets the tragedy of the present, pain begets pain. It is an endless and indefatigable cycle. Thomas-Builds-the-Fire on the other hand, is a man who sees value in the past and in tradition-hence his role as a storyteller. When Thomas speaks of the past in his stories, he speaks of past Indian glory, of acts of bravery and sacrifice, and in such a past he sees hope for the future. For each man, the past holds a different meaning, and a different potential; where one sees only decay, the other sees the possibility for rebirth.…

Denver is supposedly a safe city that guards itself against the Flare infection very well. There is also a defected WICKED doctor there, a man named Hans. Brenda believes that Hans can help them remove the chips planted in Thomas, Minho, and Newt’s brains, so that WICKED can no longer control them. When they reach the Denver airport, Newt stays behind because he is not an Immune. At the airport, a man delivers a cryptic note to Thomas. The note is from Gally, who is still alive, much to Thomas’s surprise. Gally is now working for the Right Arm, an organization opposed to WICKED. Before visiting Hans, Thomas and his friends visit Gally. Gally informs them of two key facts. First, Denver has been corrupt for a very long time and is actually heavily infested with the Flare. Second, someone has been kidnapping…

    Euthanasia

Euthanasia should be legalized to allow terminally ill patients the opportunity to prepare for their deaths, avoid unnecessary pain and die with dignity. Euthanasia is “the act or practice of ending the life of an individual suffering from a terminal illness or an incurable condition, as by lethal injection or the suspension of extraordinary medical treatment.” (Am. Heritage) The literal meaning of the word euthanasia, "‘an easy or happy death,’ from the Greek word eu- ‘good’, and thanatos ‘death’"(Harper), is proof in itself that the whole idea is to help people and not to belittle the value of life. The fact that suffering animals can be put out of their misery, but suffering people are forced to stay alive and endure the pain, is inhumane. Legalizing euthanasia would be no more than an act of mercy allowing medical personnel to bring slow, painful deaths to a halt.…

Executing condemned prisoners by lethal injection is cruel and unusual punishment and should not be legal. Lethal injections are the most common procedure of capital punishment in the United States today, but it does not mean that it is the most civilized. Several states use the three-drug protocol, with sodium thiopental, pancuronium bromide, and potassium. The other method is by injecting a large dose of barbiturate. Several problems can occur with these methods and cause excoriating pain and torcher. Physicians stand under the Hippocratic’s Oath to save people lives, not to kill them, often inexperienced technicians and orderlies carried out the injections of the drugs. It is cruel and inhumane to let untrained workers administer drugs to the prisoners when the result could in up badly. There are too many what ifs in this procedures and risk. Just because prisoners take a life does not mean we should.…

Have you ever wondered about despair or how you end up in despair or perhaps what causes your despair? Merriam-Webster dictionary defines despair as “an utter loss of hope”[1]. In this paper I will be exploring the definition of despair according to Soren Kierkegaard. Kierkegaard was a 19th century philosopher, theologian, and religious author. In addition to this he was also a Christian existentialist. To prove and iterate his points Kierkegaard wrote a book call The Sickness unto Death, in which he spoke about his definition of despair, and how it was our very own sickness. So now let’s see how despair is the sickness unto death, how it is transforms into sin and lastly how it may be overcome through faith.…
