There are others however, who think that the atom bomb was a good thing. Paul Fussell for example, is the author of the book “Thank God for the Atom Bomb.” As a soldier in WWII, Fussell is adamant about the importance of experience in influencing one’s views about the use of the atom bomb. Fussell’s main point is that had the atom bombs not been dropped, he along with thousands of other American and British soldiers would have been destroyed by the Japanese.
But you still have people who say that the Atom bomb was a bad thing because it kill a lot of innocent people in the explosion. They believe that we could have sent in our troops and the Japanese would have surrendered. They believe that yes we would have lost soldiers in trying this way but it would have been worth it so that the innocent people would have lived.
Fussell and many others who were fighting knew that the Japanese would have killed a lot more of us then what needed to be if we had sent our men there. So dropping the bombs were a good thing to those men fighting in WWII. The bombs dropping saved my great grandpa from having to go to the land and fight so I’m happy and glad they dropped those bombs in his and other soldiers places.
