These punishments usually consist of being killed, but sometimes they are punished in a way that can ruin their life forever. For example, The Descent demonstrates the power and wrath of the 'other' towards those who ignore the warning signs. Once the group enters deeper into the forbidden cave, the degenerated humans living below immediately start killing them off. Only one character, Sarah, is known to survive the attack of the 'other' yet, the unknown is if she feels as though it is worth it to re-enter civilization. Like The Descent, the characters from Splice begin to get killed off once they are considered weaker then the 'other'. Dren becomes very powerful and changes into a male version of her species. This final transformation proves to make Dren stronger than his creators. In consequence of this new strength, Dren rapes Elsa which results in him impregnating her. He then kills his other creator, Clive, in order to be the alpha male. This flip in power of the 'other' versus the establishment leads to major punishments towards the characters in Splice. Both movies The Descent and Splice demonstrate the role of the 'other' in the punishment of those apart of the establishment who ignore warning signs.
