the court and the constable. After meeting with Goody Cloyse in the forest, Goody Brown tries to resist the idea and action of temptation by saying that she was the one to help him learn his catechism. Through their walk, Goody Brown takes a break and then hears a voice that he was not expecting. As he stands up he grabs ahold of a pink ribbon that was the same as the one his wife, Faith, wears. Once Goodman Brown returns from the forest he starts to act coldly to those around him in the village, including his wife. He reacts this why because in the forest they were all worshipping the Devil and gave into the temptation presented to them. In some way, he is acting justly, because he believed that they were a pious people and that even though they were human and made mistakes, they would never worship the Devil. However, after the night in the forest, he doesn’t know what to believe anymore. I think Goodman Brown had a dream in forest and accidently fell asleep in the dark forest. The reason I feel this way is because, in his dream he his neither baptized with the blood at the alter or worshipping the Devil. Then, once he returns, everyone acts as if nothing happens and they do not appear to have any concern about his position on the matter. Also, his wife, Faith, is overjoyed to see him when he returns and from the story, she doesn’t seem to know what happened between the time he left to the time he returned.
