The American Foundation: An Analysis of Illegal Immigration in the U.S
“America. Land of the free and home of the brave.” A way of life, American society has lived by way before our ancestors settled on these lands. America has been a safe haven for harboring immigrants in their own unique struggle. Individuals always seek a better life for their children; coming to this country in hopes of living a better life that consists of wealth, success, and happiness. Though, the unskilled workers weren’t able to benefit from this, they were dedicated to their work and were willing to work for a lower wage as opposed to other skilled workers. Ultimately, illegal immigration is necessary in order for America to achieve an increased economic productivity. In effect, this benefited legal/skilled workers from, “1997 to 2007 who experienced increased pay in complementary jobs by 10%,” says Adam Davidson. As an illustration, the illegal immigrants worked for a far lower pay, but even so, it was sufficient for them since they valued being able to work. Though, they are restricted from having the same privileges as a documented immigrant, the illegal immigrants take their chances because the living conditions in Mexico is unbearable. Urrea creates a vivid image of the unique struggle that the Mexicans encounter; with the financial struggle and corrupt government that overrules their province, you can see why they’d come into the country illegally. Without the proper medical care for the elderly and the gruesome living conditions, it is evident that we must allow these illegal immigrants access to our country without stripping them of rights that a typical individual has. Again, it is simply in the foundation of the U.S to protect and provide for those that cannot protect and provide for themselves. Hence, illegal immigration should not be an issue since the reason behind it involves the benefit of the country that harbors the immigrants and so
