The Different Branches Of The Federal Government

There are three different branches of government in the federal government: Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches. These branches are connected to one another having their own powers and responsibilities. Legislative branch is made up of the Congress, also known as the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Legislative branch job is to make the laws as well as decide on who and what to tax, and how to use the tax money. Executive branch consists of the president. This branches job is to support and enforce the laws made by the legislative. The Judicial branch is made up of the Supreme Court and lower courts, having their jobs consist of interpreting the laws and determining their validity. As we now know, Legislative branch involves making up the laws. “A bill must be introduced when a member of congress decides to create a new law.” The power of the House of Representatives voting to increase the fuel tax would fall under this branch. This example falls under this branch because the example involves the House of Representatives wanting to make increasing the fuel tax a new law. Another example, that falls under this branch would be, “Sunshine City Votes to Raise the Age of Purchasing Tobacco to 21.” This under goes the Legislative Branch because they are trying to make a new law, by raising the age of purchasing tobacco.
Local sheriff arrests a stalker at the Forest Park Apartment complex would fall under the Executive branch. The law states, “Stalking is a criminal offense that involves following, harassment, and intimidation of another person. Stalking can be charged as federal or state crime” (Stalking Charges). In this case, they arrested the stalker. This falls under the executive branch, because they arrested the stalker. This goes to show the local sheriff department enforcing the law on stalking, informing the community this behavior is not okay, and there will be consequences for violating the
