The Distinction between Classic and Modern games Currently, video games have gone through many changes in the past years from the first video game, invented in 1952, all the way to today’s time. Classic video games were made with 8-bit pixels and in very low resolution than modern day games. However, if those low-quality games were never made, the games would not have evolved into the games they are today. Today, games are more defined and have more of a storyline to them. Modern day games are made from the highest grade computers and technology we have now, thanks to the graphic designers and many more that make today’s games better. Game designing began in the 20th century and came into importance with computers and the invention of home game consoles. While the first designs were very basic, the industry has developed into a major market. The first main companies that wanted to specifically design video games began in the 1970s. Pong, for example, was developed in 1972 by programming a circuit board as a training exercise for Atari. They released the game to great success, eventually hiring a number of designers, including Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs. In 1977, cartridges were being invented that changed the dynamics of the video game world. The concept of cartridges allowed the designers to use electronic overlays to present color in video games. During the 70s and 80s, the game industry changed by using more complex formulas in designing the games that presented a much more detailed character and backgrounds. The first arcade system was made in 1971 along with the earliest arcade game, Galaxy Game. It cost $20,000 to build by using an old DEC PDP-11 computer and a vector terminal. It was much different from the latest technologies. How could you play against one another? Well, in 1972, they had improved the hardware making the processing power much more productive.
