The Driving Age Should Not Be Raised
Because of safety concerns, many states have increased the age at which teens can begin to drive. The state legislature is considering raising the minimum driving age from 16 to 18. I do have a opinion on this subject. I am in the age group of these teenagers which the age is trying to be raised. The driving age should not be raised.
The driving age shouldn’t be raised because at the age of 16 you can be working. A driver’s license will allow a teenager to have transportation. The transportation will benefit you, friends, and family. You will have transportation to school, work, and home. This driver’s license will make you more responsible and mature.
The age for driving is fine exactly where it’s at. A teenage boy or girl gets a learners

Do you like having your parents driving you around where you need to go? Or having to go places on your parents time because their busy or too tired to drive? No teen want that, especially if they can drive themselves. They are trying to establish a new law that teen can get their licenses when they turn 18 when they are more responsible instead of 16. The 16 year old driving age should stay the same instead of trying to increase the age because it can teach teens more about responsibility, gives teens more freedom, and they can just increase the practice driving hours instead of the age.…

Or even as a teenager, do you want to end your life early because you don’t know the proper rules of the road? I don’t think a teenagers life should ever be in danger because they aren’t sure how to do a correct left turn going into oncoming traffic, or how to yield at a yield sign. The driving age should be raised to eighteen so teens are more responsible, mature, and ready to take on a very dangerous task that they will continue doing the rest of their life.…

If someone's friend steals something, does the innocent friend go to jail? No. If a teen gets into a fatal accident, does another teen not involved get their license suspended? Of course not, but those who think the driving age should be raised are wanting this to happen. They are labeling all teens before they got into an accident or even before they got behind the wheel. They believe that because of someone's birth date, they are by definition dangerous (“Lund”). The minimum driving age should stay at 16 of age because if it is raised, it will delay the experience of driving and it will cause an inconvenience for parents.…

The appropriate age for a teenager to obtain a driving permit is 16 years old, however I believe it should be raised to 17 since there is a high rate of teenagers causing accidents. There might be some exceptions why they should keep it at 16 but due to the high rate of teen crashes they should raise the age to 17. Statistics have shown that teenagers have a higher chance of accidents. Teenagers from the ages of 15 to 17 are more likely to cause a car crash for many reasons. While teenagers go out at night and drive around with friends and only have their permit, they are putting other’s people life at risk. The three main reasons why teenagers should be at least the age of 17 to be able to get their permit is because they drive and text,…

On this personal issue i do not agree with changing the minimum driving age. Many teens look forward to getting to drive. It wouldn't be the right thing to do. No i don't think the minimum driving age should be changed. If are legislature changed the minimum driving age we would have to have a lot more transportation for schools. Students wouldn't be aloud to drive to school. If are legislature changed the driving age they would be taking away the only freedom they have. It would also be hard for parents to get there kids from after school activity's. Some parents need there kids to be able to run places for them lick picking up siblings. They also may need them to go to the store to pick things up for them. They…

In my response the driving age should not be raised. This concern has been a problem then and still is today. The Driving age should not be raised , one reason is 16 or 17 year olds drive everywhere in case of emergencies , for work , school and we shouldn’t take that away from them. If the 16 year old or 17 year old are trying to drive they at least should have a permit and should require it so that if they get stopped by a patrolling officer they know if they have the privilege to drive or not and should get fine if they are caught without a permit. It’s important to learn how to drive at an early age because it can really help if their is some type of emergency throughout the family and they need to drive to the hospital or a parent can’t drive anymore and needs to be driven.…

Many have disagreed that the minimum driving age should be raised from 16 to 18. It should stay at 16. There are many advantages to driving at an age younger than 18. Various teenagers are unable to participate in extracurricular activities due to no available way to get to and from the activity, teens are able to get jobs and need a way of transportation without depending so much on their parents, and numerous high school graduates are younger than 18 or just turned 18.…

Should the driving age be raised to the age of 18? My answer is no, because there is not that great of a difference in maturity between the age of 16 and the age of 18. I got my permit and began driving at the age of 15. By doing so I had almost a year of driving experience, with a parent, by the time I turned 16. I got my drivers license when I turned 16, and my parents bought me my first car. In my own opinion I believe I am a pretty decent driver. I have never been in a wreck nor have I ever been pulled over. My friend’s parents have always trusted them to ride along with me. I am a pretty good driver, but am I great? No, but no driver is. Teenagers are not the only people involved to car accidents older people make mistakes…

A new 17 or 18-year-old driver is considered safer than a 16-year old driver (Davis). Teenagers should wait until they are older and have more experience to start driving. “ The only way to become a good driver is to get out and learn,” says O’Donnell. But in 2007, more than 4,000 teenagers died as occupants in teen- driven vehicles (Palicz). Furthermore, teens lack of experience not only costs them their lives, but the lives of others. In the end, it does not matter that teens are not getting practice with driving, but that every day another life is lost.…

Teenage accident rates and mortality rates have increased dramatically over the years. Nothing that the parents do and law enforces will protect the teens all the time, especially from themselves. Teenagers do not realize the responsibility that comes with driving. They are often distracted with other things such as texting while driving. Most importantly, parents always worry about the safety of their kids on the road. Some people may say that the driving age should stay at the age of 16; however, raising the driving age to 18 will create safer and more responsible drivers. Firstly, teenagers are very careless. In addition, increasing the minimum driving age will allow teenagers more time to get comfortable with driving. Finally, the number of fatal accidents will be reduced. Therefore, the minimum driving age should be raised from 16 to 18.…

I do not believe the minimum driving age should be raised. A trend in recent years has shown that the amount of 16-17 year olds involved in deadly car crashes has been reduced, and 18-19 year olds involved in deadly accidents has increased. In states with Graduating License programs, the amount of 16 year olds involved in deadly accidents has gone down 16 percent. A GDL (Graduating License) can restrict teens from driving at night, with passengers, and it can make them drive with supervision for a given amount of time. This will give teens safe and quality experience behind the wheel. Since 1996, 1,348 fewer fatalities involving 16 year olds and 1,086 more fatalities involving 18 year olds have been linked to Graduating License programs. So, why would we raise the license limit to 18 or 19 when fewer 16 and 17 year olds, and more 18-19 year olds are causing fatal accidents (Roan)?…

Because of safety concerns, many states have increased the age at which teens can begin to drive. Some teenagers at the age of 16 are responsible. Some 16 year olds are irresponsible. Also, all 18 year olds are not responsible and able to drive the correct way. The state legislature should not raise the minimum age from 16 to 18 because some 16 year olds have a job and need transportation, a few may not like to depend on individuals to drive them back and forth, and many teenagers like to do their own things and not always with their parents.…
