The roles of the media, social media, video games, music, movies, etc. can have an influence on juvenile delinquency.…

Many would argue that child neglect will lead to juvenile delinquency in the future. There have been many studies that have attempted to prove that there is a strong connection with child abuse and or neglect with juvenile delinquency. However, there is no strong evidence to prove this to be true. Just because there are many common factors with all three, they tend to believe that they are all entwined one way or another. Some of these factors are poverty, violence in the home, poor mental health, single parent or not having both parents present in the household, one being the disciplinary and the other the weaker of the two therefore no consistency in discipline and supervision, lack of attention, distant from other family members and friends. These kids will build a wall and feel that no one can be trusted and cocoon themselves from society. This will lead to them becoming rebellious and become hostile around people, even when these people are trying to lend a helping hand.…

Every child is brought into this world with absolute innocence and purity. A child's first encounter with human beings majority of the time include doctors, nurses, and family members. Influence on this child begins the moment they encounter these beings. The people who surround this child ultimately shape who they are by the power of influence. It is in the early years of one's life where they are supposed to learn basic mannerisms, morals, and values. Although many are fortunate to be taught these important tools to navigate through life, some are taught improperly leading them to stray from the right path and to what society would say is corruption. Although we are ultimately responsible for our choices, Oscar Wilde in The Picture of Dorian…

There are many theories out there that try to explain why children do the things they do, but I do not feel there will ever be a full understanding of the actions people take. I also feel that one person can have the trait of more than one of these theories all at the same time. I will be going over two of the many theories in this paper. First, there is General Deterrence, which tries to stop people from offending by showing them what will happen to them if they commit the same crimes as others. According to "Deterrence Theory" (n.d.), “General deterrence is designed to prevent crime in the general population. Thus, the state’s punishment of offenders serves as an example for others in the general population who have not yet participated in criminal events.” (General and Specific Deterrence). One example of this is the death penalty, it is used as a punishment for horrible and violent crimes like capital murder. The use of the electric chair or lethal injection are pointed out to potential offenders, in an attempt to stop them from offending. This theory still works somewhat, making children afraid to commit crimes, because they are afraid of the punishments, however, it does not work as well as it used too. There are still some children…

From experience, I learn that children’s bad behavior is mostly attributable to their parents. I believe that if parents raise and educate their children well and with affection, their children will respect them and will do their best to make them proud. On the contrary, if parents treat their children badly, in turn their children will behave badly to express their disappointment or to take revenge against their own parents. In…

On the other hand, some people determine that if a child under eighteen commits a crime, their parents should not take responsibility for it. When parents discipline a child too much, the child is likely to be rebellious and go against their parents’ wishes. There are parents that have done all that they could and in spite of that, their child gets into criminal activity. The opposing view also believes that even when parents are involved in their child’s life, there are other factors that corrupt a child into committing crime. Society and the media have a great influence on how children act. Peer pressure is another factor that may cause a child to commit a crime. Overall, a parent cannot control their child’s decisions and should not be held liable for their children’s actions.…

A child is born innocent and if nurtured with tender care and attention, then he/she grows in positive way. Physical, mental, moral and spiritual development of the children makes them capable of realizing his/her fullest potential. On the contrary, harmful surroundings, negligence of basic needs, wrong company and other abuses may turn a child to a delinquent. With changing societal trends, children now appear to possess strong likes and dislikes and also show expressions that…
