The effects of plyometric training program on the speed strength for young algerian football players
BOUKRATEM BELGACEM Institute of Physical Education and Sports, University of Khemis Miliana, ALGERIA Published online: November 22, 2012 DOI:10.7752/pesh.2012.16.1.007 Abstract The purpose of the study was to determine if plyometric training program can improve the speed strength of the Young algerian football players . It was applied to a sample of 40 players aged 16-18 years old .the subjects were divided into two equivalent groups (experimental and control) of 20 players in each., from Aindefla clubs who patricpated in the regional league of Blida in Algeria . The experimental group applied the plyometric tarining program and the control group applied the usual program . The program was applied for 08 weeks with 3 training units in week at 60 to 90 minutes for each unit. The experimental group performed the plyometric training exercises while the control group performed the usual physical exercise. The scientific coefficients of constancy were between 0.83 and 0.99 and the reliability was between 0.91 and 0.95 The results pointed to a significant progress in the improvement percentages for the experimental group in all study tests compared to the improvement percentages of the control group. The results from our study are very encouraging and demonstrate the benefits of plyometric training program on speed strength of young algerian football players by boosting muscle and tendon strength, and improving the neuromuscular activation of the response. Keywords: plyometric training, strength, speed, football. Introduction Football is one of the sports characterized by many of the basic and variable skills (strength, speed, endurance, agility, coordination) (1). The football player must do such skills,
