What are the effects on the tram system in Nottingham and how are they affecting public transport?
Introduction
The aim of the investigation was to find out how trams were affecting: public transport, land use and the environment in and around Nottingham. Nottingham is a large city in the east midlands of England. It is home to a verity of culture and customs. A recent addition to Nottingham is the tram system. The tram system has provided a new and innovative way to travel in the city. The tram has been running for a few years now and there are current plans to extend the tram lines through to Beeston and the surrounding area. this however comes with its problems.
Hypothesis
Null: the tram system has no effect on: public transport usage, land use and the environment.
Realistic: the tram system has an effect on: public transport usage, land use and the environment.
The data
I collected a verity of data, under lined as follows:
A land use survey for the area affected areas in Nottingham,
An environmental quality survey for the areas in Nottingham,
And a questionnaire which was sourced using interviews in the Nottingham city centre,
*certain areas* the names of shops on high streets.
What data did I collect? The method I adopted for the land use survey is that I had ready prepared maps ready to label during the time I had in Nottingham. I would walk around and label all the buildings I could see on the map.
The method I used for the environmental survey is that I choose a wide and expansive area in the areas affected by the tram system and fill in the survey sheet I prepared before I went out there.
Another method for the questionnaire was that I would ask random members of the public certain questions I had prepared before I left for Nottingham.
The final method for the shop names was simple as I had chosen two main high streets in Nottingham and took down the names of the shops on both sides of the streets.
