The Effects a Nursing Home Has on a Person Back in 2004 someone that my family knew had a loved one in a nursing home. This family was obligated to put their loved one in a home because she had suffered from an accident and no one in the family was going to be able to take care of her. After the lady had been in the nursing home for awhile the family was not visiting her as often as they had when she was first put into the home. The lady started suffering from other medical problems that were caused by her becoming depressed. This happened not only because she was not visited as much but also because she was not getting all of the attention she needed. Over time the lady became more and more depressed due to lack of visitation and lack of attention at the nursing home. At first a nursing home may sound like a great idea but research should always be done before hand. Nursing homes may not always be the best option because it can cause the person to suffer from neglect and depression, so family members should consider all of the options before placing someone they love in a home. Nursing homes have been around for many years. The first time the concept of a “nursing home” was heard of was in the beginning of the 20th century. They were not called nursing homes when the concept was first was heard of. In those times the nurses were all women. These women would take care the injured and or the sick people. Nursing homes were not their own facility at this time. They were first part of the big hospitals. Back then the difference between a nursing home and the hospitals was that the patient was actually able to live in the ward of the hospital that was the nursing home. Nursing homes were started so that they could help the sick and the injured. They were not as popular back then as they are now but they have the same purpose. When nursing homes were first started there were not nearly as many complications and technicalities. Now
