If there was not a grand theater like the Globe theater, Shakespeare’s plays may not have been quite as successful. In 1613, the Globe Theater burned to the ground from a canon that was shot during the performance of Henry VIII. The thatched roof caught fire from this shot and the original Globe Theater was no more. Another theater was built in its place to replace the old one, but eventually the Puritans closed it down and all things that provided entertainment to citizens.
