The Fashion Design Industry.

Fashion design is the art of the application of design and aesthetcs or natural beauty to clothing and accessories. Fashion today is a global industry, and most major countries have a fashion industry.

Fashion designers work in numerous ways. Fashion designers may work full-time for one fashion as 'in-house designers' which owns the designs. Others work freelance selling their ideas to fashion houses, directly to shops, or to clothing manufacturers. Some fashion designers set up their own labels, under which their designs are marketed. However, most fashion designers work for apparel manufacturers, creating designs of men's, women's, and children's fashions for the mass market.

Range of Occupations

There are also numerous amounts of jobs in the fashion industry such as a store manager who would be in charge of the store, employing workers, selling the products and ensuring that the store is well stocked with the latest and best selling fashions.

A sales representative meets the designers and sees all the new samples . They would also be involved with the marketing side to ensure that bloggers and fashion editors are aware of the new collections.

A visual mechantiser needs to be creative as it is their job to showcase the fashions in the stores and the windows. They would also need to understand themes and colours to ensure that the collections are displayed in a creative and eye-catching manner.

An editorial assistant would need to be well read on fashion, know all the fashion blogs and current magazines. A good network of contacts in public relations is an asset for any editorial assistant and an eye for detail as

    To establish how and why fashion photography has changed and developed over the generations it is important to define fashion photography. According to Wikipedia, Fashion photography is a genre of photography devoted to displaying clothing and other fashion items. Fashion photography is most often conducted for advertisements or fashion magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, or Elle.
