An example of the credibility of the author is identified in her explanation of how women are raised and taught “to subordinate their desires to those of others.” Lili Loofbourow explains how other people’s opinions on their esthetic are important for girls who, accordingly, apprehend that “their social value resides in how much others enjoy looking at them.” The author can thoroughly expose this concept because she experienced the same thing when she was a young girl.
