The Bill of Rights, founded by Thomas Jefferson, is a name for the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution. These amendments help to protect the natural rights of liberty and property. One of the most
Important amendments is the first amendment. This amendment protects the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of the press, as well as the right to assemble and petition the government. This amendment passed in 1789, and was put to use in 1791. The first amendment is very important, it protects freedom of speech and without it most people would not be heard and would have to obey unfair and unnecessary laws. • Freedom of speech is the right to communicate your ideas verbally. Freedom of speech is my favorite right, it allows me to tell my opinion. • Freedom of religion gives you the right to change your religion or to not practice religion at all. This is important because no one should ever have to choose a religion if they don’t believe in it. • Freedom of press is also very important especially today with all of the electronic media. It allows us to voice our opinions thru the internet, television, radio etc. • Freedom of Assembly it gives you the right to express, and gather peacefully. Without this freedom people would become violent at marches and sport events etc. this freedom keeps people safe when in a group. • Freedom to petition means we have the right to ask the government to fix something if there is a problem without punishment. These rights are very important to all Americans. We use these rights everyday without even realizing it. I believe without these rights/freedoms our society would end up in chaos.
