The Four Parenting Styles

Discussing the four parenting styles I think the one that is most likely is linked to behavioral control is Authoritarian parenting because this parenting style combines high control with little warmth and parents have rules that are expected to be followed. Hard work, respect, and obedience are what authoritarian parents want their child to have toward them and do not grant the child's needs or wishes (Kail & Cavanaugh). I believe this parenting style in psychological because the parents are controlling the child psychologically and this type of behavior is expected from their children, there is also no discussion on what the child wants instead of the parents who are the head of the household decide on what to give and take. This is also
because a young adolescent needs to learn responsibility and respect because nothing in life comes easy without you working hard and parents use this style in order for them to grow knowing to always work hard and respect others around them. Authoritative parenting is parenting style that has a tiny bot of behavioral control but also provides warmth and safeness to the child. The parents do say no to an idea or place the child wants to go but always says why, and discussion is always open (Kail & Cavanaugh). This is what I believe to be behavioral control because the parents don't want their child to be surrounded by negativity. This also does shed light on the fact that certain rules are set in place and that the reason they're there is to protect the safety of the child. In adolescents, the behavior is one thing that can change really quickly and if there aren't rules that young adolescents have to follow they can go out of control because no one is there to stop them.
