In America we have family planning available to everyone for free. All free clinics offer free birth control and condoms to the general public, at least in Virginia. We also have medical care that is open to the public 24/7 and proper hygiene is taught from the day you’re born. In other countries, such as India, where my husband is from, there is a lack of family planning due to religious reasons. People there also don’t have any proper hygiene and there is not medical treatment to be received when needed. My husband once told me about how he had a hernia and they tried to pray over him for a week to save him because the nearest hospital was 600 miles

There is a program I support monthly that helps orphaned and abandoned children and their families get out of poverty, as well as adopt, provide nutrition, health, and education to the children. They are called Holt International. Holt International describes themselves as helping people in these ways; “Through nutritional, financial, health, education and counseling services, we provide the tools and resources families need to grow stable and self-reliant…” (Holt)
I sponsor a child in Tamil Nadu, India. Every month my gift of $30 is providing help to this child and their family and making sure they don’t have to go 600 miles for a doctor or struggle to get food. They provide all the child needs as well as their family. 1 specific program that helps developing countries reach food security goals.
