Today, something very shocking happened. Mr. Brown, my math teacher, searched everyone’s backpack and clothes for his stolen iPad charger. We all thought that it was ridiculous to look through our properties without even asking us. When he found the iPad charger in Sam’s backpack, he yelled, “This is mine! And I know that because mine had a “b” written on the charger, so does this one. Sam, please see me after class.”
Everyone went silent and was shocked for the remainder of math class, and Sam cried.
Sam had to go to the principle’s office. Some of his classmates and I went to the office as witnesses. After answering some questions, the principle concluded …show more content…
Brown did what he had to do. He did not do anything illegal, so Tim, please go back to your current class and you may forget about this situation,” Mr. King said as if he was very annoyed by me.
My day ended like that. A very shocking, weird situation. I remembered a few months ago, we learned the Bill of Rights at school and that we have the right to be secure in our homes, and not be searched without a warrant. However, because of the change of the president, he got rid of that amendment which was the fourth amendment.
The next day, something even more shocking and kind of terrifying thing happened. And this happened with my music teacher, Mrs. Bailing. During music period, I usually go on my phone because I am a saxophone player, and saxophones don’t play a lot in band, so I usually go on my phone, and play games. Today, however, Mrs. Bailing caught me playing games on my phone during band. So she snatched my phone from my hand and looked through my Safari history, and all my private chats. I got very angry, so I snatched my phone back from her, and I put it in my pocket. She got furious and sent me to the office.
“Hey Tim,” Mr. King said, “welcome back.”
“Hello, Mr. …show more content…
King asked.
“Yes,” I said innocently.
“Well, this would be a minor referral. It is a school rule.”
“But she just snatched my phone from my hand, and looked at all my chats, histories and more. Mr. King this is very unfair! She just took my phone and looked at things that she doesn't even have to look. She even looked at my chat with my mom! My mom and I talk a lot of private things that my teacher shouldn’t know. Mrs. Bailing probably read some of my text chat with my mom. No teacher can just take my phone without permission and start doing whatever they want like it is their phone,” I argued.
“Tim, again, Mrs. Bailing did not prohibit the law at all. Remember, the president changed? He got rid of the 4th amendment. So now, anyone can look at your messages. You will get just one minor referral.”
“Ugh… Okay, Mr. King.”
“Okay Tim, I hope you understood. You can now go back to your class,” He said gently.
Those 2 experiences were crazy and it all happened because of lack of the 4th amendment. I didn't think that lacking 4th amendment was going to be this big of a deal. However, it was. I truly wish that the president changes and gets the 4th amendment back on the Bill of
