Terrorism has been spreading pain and suffering world since the 1980’s and how the media handles it can create big ripples. Results from a scientific study indicate that “terrorism incidents receive little or no coverage in the news, but a few cases are sensationalized in the press” (Chermack and Gruenewald). Bias extends further than just showcasing opinions but also includes manipulation if the news for profit. Terrorism should not be used as propaganda in order to gain views, People’s lives are at stake and such commercialization of death and destruction is unethical. The choices made by the media reflect upon the viewers opinions about the topic, in fact, it can have “significant consequences for how that public thinks about terrorism, policy makers respond to terrorism, and terrorist attempts to use the media to accomplish their objectives”(Chermack and Gruenewald).
