The General Service Administration (GSA)

The General Service Administration (GSA) is an agency found in the United States government. Its main purpose is to “help manage and support the basic functioning of federal agencies.” (1). It supports and helps other agencies when it comes to fixing their budget, implementing policies that cut cost, or even providing everyday items that are needed. The GSA watches over other agencies to make sure that it is function correctly and efficiently. One unique characteristic of this agency is that it is an independent agency, which means that even though it is part of the executive branch the president has no power over it. The only guidelines it has are federal laws. The GSA was created in 1949, Former president Herbert Hoover told President Harry S. Truman to create an “office of the general services”. The Administrator of General Services is the major person in charge of this agency, they are in control of what the agency does. The main clients of the GSA is the federal government. The main purpose of the GSA is to help and assist the federal government when it comes to cutting cost and helping budgets of organization through policies or just assisting them when they ever need help with a public project, the GSA is there to assist.
