This ensures for a smoother community, because without people having emotional connections, then no one becomes sexually active, and that means no unwanted pregnancies. This is very good for the community to keep the birth rates low, but they don't want the community to die out, so they have to have some newborns. This is through the birthmothers that they have children to keep the community going, but the birth of the newchildren is in no way an emotional thing, it is strictly considered a birthmothers job to produce a child, and afterwards, the birthmother won't stay connected to the child, because they are given out to "families" that apply for a child. This makes it so no matter what happens to a child, the mother won't know it's their child, therefore will not mourn the loss of the child. Yes, the community has a ceremony of loss of losing a child, but it isn't as emotional as the death of a child, or person in our society. In fact, after the ceremony of loss, the whole community is going on like nothing ever happened, and they go back to their normal lives. This keeps it so the community can keep running, and doesn't get set back by the loss of a child, or any person.
