Question 1:
Some similarities between Fiona in the book and the film is that her personality is the same she is caring and … We can see she is caring in both the book and the film because she cares for the old in the book but also cares for the babies in the film. Some differences between the book and the film is that in the book Fiona was assigned the job of Caretaker in the House of Old whereas in the film she was assigned the job of a nurturer. In the film Fiona waits to be released because she helped Jonas to escape but in the book there is no mention of Fiona going to be released. Another difference is that in the film
Jonas and Fiona kiss but in the book there is no mention of love between Fiona and Jonas. Fiona also gets her assignment she is twelve but in the movie the characters are much older that that age, this might have been done so the producers could add romance and drama such as kissing. This is another difference. The film shows that Fiona breaks rules such as she doesn't take her morning injection, kisses Jonas and she helped Jonas escape. But the book does not do any of these things within Fiona.
Question 2:
At the age of twelve everyone is given an assignment which is their job. In the book Fiona is the Caretaker in the House of Old. In the film she is a nurturer. A nurturer is a person who looks after babies before they are given a family unit. A nurturer also learns to release.
I think the film chose a different assignment for Fiona from the book because it made it easier for Jonas to escape and leave to elsewhere. This was because Fiona ran as a distraction carrying a basket so Jonas could escape with Gabe. If Fiona was not a nurturer the movies ending would have been different, when Jones comes to take Gabe to elsewhere he asks Fiona where he is, if Fiona did not work as a nurturer this would have not been possible to find him.
