The godmothers first step into protecting Rapunzel, "...took her to the middle of the forest and shut her up in a tower that had neither stairs nor door, but only a little window at the very top." "When the godmother wanted to come in, she stood down below and called out "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Let down your hair for me." She was locked in a tower and was to respond to the godmother only. After Rapunzel was locked up for awhile, a prince started showing up.
It all started when he called out, "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Let down your hair." She fell for it because her godmother is the only one that yells for her. When they met each other, they both agreed that he would only visit in the evenings, which means they would be having sex. A few days later, Rapunzel spilled the beans, "Tell me, godmother, how is it that you're so much harder to pull up than the young prince?" The godmother grew angry and knew she was having sex with the prince. With that, she sent her to a desert place, where she would not be able to see the prince anymore and have sex with him. The godmother was sending her away, to protect her from anymore
trouble.
When Rapunzel was sent away, the prince showed up at the tower. The godmother had to teach him a lesson, "You've come to take your darling wife away, but the bird is gone from the nest, she won't be singing anymore; the cat has taken her away and before she's done she'll scratch your eyes out too. You've lost Rapunzel, you'll never see her again." The godmother blinded him because she was protecting Rapunzel and didn't want the prince to find her.
A few years passed by and the prince had finally found Rapunzel. When they were together, she had a baby boy and a baby girl. The two ended up living happy together and Rapunzel was able to help the prince see. The godmother never knew about the two being together, but the two were definitely in love with each other. The godmother tried everything in her power to protect Rapunzel, but nothing seemed to work. She was a wonderful godmother because she cared for Rapunzel and she didn't want to see her get hurt. No parent is perfect, but there are many different forms of love. No matter how the godmother was viewed as, she was a protective godmother and that's how she showed her love.
