One verse that really stood out to me was in Luke 17:1, “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying, ‘I repent’ you must forgive them.” This passage refers to loving unconditionally regardless of the bad that has happened. After researching more about this passage, I found a source that talked about how in Luke forgiveness is seen as a moral that everyone should possess. Luke also emphasizes on love and forgiveness going hand in hand. The Gospel of Luke brings the idea that you must forgive to love, and you must love everyone. I found an interesting secondary source that talks a lot about this passage and breaks down what it is saying. The source talks about contradictions to whether Peter is saying baptism is the only way to free people from their sins. In the article, this controversy concluded that this bible passage isn’t meaning that baptism is the only way to be forgiven. The evidence to this is found in Luke 3:19 which states, “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” As you can see, if you turn to God and have faith, you may be free from sins. Nothing is stated about baptism. However, that doesn’t mean being baptized won’t help people to purify people from their sins, it’s just not the only way, as mentioned in the
