The Great Divergence Of Modernity In The Arts And Film

Modernity was a time period of change. Things were being created and trends were beginning to form. It was a place for new innovation and outlook on the arts and creative writing. Modernity is getting rid of the old and creating the new. This involved integrating women into the history of a male dominated workforce.
New developments that emerged in the arts included silent films. What silent films are were film that were not in color and that were silent having no dialogue only being able to express oneself through physical actions. This particular invention was seen as creative and never seen before. But in today's day modernity in the arts and film world would be 4D movies, which made silent films be non existent. But with Western Europe and parts of North America becoming very wealthy because of the great divergence they had surpassed China in every area.. The contributing components of the great divergence included the industrial revolution, columbian exchange and the cotton gin. Debates have been brought up whether what factors had created the great divergence. I believe the factors of trade, culture and the working class were what truly pushed Western Europe and North America to become as successful and what ultimately lead to the country America has become. One component that is believed to have the biggest contribution to the great divergence was the industrial revolution. America was able to mass produce things in factories without any type of labor laws. Having as many workers as they want with paying them bare minimum for work simply because of everyone needing working. Peoples rights were set aside with jobs because of how bad people needed money in order to live and provide for there family. The unemployment rate was very high for the simple reason is that people outside of the city would move into the city just so they could get a job. Which many outsiders had the miss conception of easily being able to get a job. Many farmers also struggled with the simple fact of the columbian exchange and the variety of goods expanding. With the population rising there wasn’t enough jobs for everyone. People wanted to keep there job so bad that they wouldn’t care about high risk the working conditions were. Many people during this time also did not get the proper training in order to work with the machinery and supplies they were supplied with. Also the strenuous hours would cause fatigue enabling them to probably do their job which is where mistakes came into play. With the amount of rights and injuries occuring people would riot and activists were born in this era standing up for what was deserved. Child
