Mother Earth is existing for 4 billion years and hosting the humankind for 200.000 years. The Earth has been very generous to the humans with the environment, nature, atmosphere and resources but the answer for the question how the humans reacted to this generosity is to be discussed. One of the most important subjects is the global warming. Since the carbon dioxide level is getting higher and higher every day, it is obvious that the current regulations are not enough to reduce this problem. In my opinion every country in the world should sign an agreement on this subject. Although there are some examples of this opinion (e.g. Kyoto protocol) I want to differentiate this focusing on every single human being. For example in my “dream” agreement, every government should create simulation places which contains the effects of the global warming thus every citizen gain experience on the effects. Another regulation should be on the use of environmental friendly energy. People should be envied to use hybrid or electrical cars by lower taxes on cars and electricity. Also the electric stations for the cars should be increased immensely. Another important point is the energy sources that we are using. Oil and petrol are taking the leading part of the bad energy source usage for the environment. What I suggest, alternative energy sources should be supported by the governments such as solar, wind and wave energies. Denmark is a quite good example on this issue; they are producing 20 % of their energy needs by wind energy. Governments should use incentives to the ones who researches and develops solutions on alternative energies. Although the Sun being the most important energy source in the solar system, we are not using it efficiently. Solar panels are good inventions but this is not enough, R&Ds should increasingly continue. Last subject that I want to mention is the inequalities between the countries. Some poor countries even do not have access on this

The basic causes of today’s environmental problems are population growth, wasteful use of resources, the tragedy of the commons, poverty, poor environment accounting, and ecological ignorance. They are interconnected because of political and economic practices that are not equitable for various populations, in resource consumption and in technological applications.…

In the UK, the government wants to limit the emission of carbon dioxide, but also to increase the amount of energy that comes from renewable resources. Union targets say that by the year 2020, 20 percent – which is an average figure for the EU – of energy must come from renewable resources like wind and biomass.…

However, with continued global warming, environmental problems will occur as due to excessive resource use such as with the USA consuming around 25% of global resources. As global governance suggested, it wishes to reduce greenhouse gases and resource consumption, which in this day and age may be hard to do as due to our technological boom. It is interesting how the US committed to the Copenhagen Change Summit in order to reduce carbon dioxide from coal-based power generation to solar and natural gas production. Through these drastic changes it suggests a better world is to come in the near future, as with…

Unfortunately, developing countries have placed economic activity before environmental issues. They have reduced manufacturing costs by utilizing inefficient, low technology methods. This puts countries at a disadvantage because they are more likely to be exposed to extreme weather and they have fewer resources to adapt to this than developed countries do. Living in a modern developed country we should improve the lives of the less fortunate by providing them with resources to help prevent their homes from being damaged and also information on how to be more eco-friendly. With the problem of people on the streets, there should be homes where people could have access to and better their lives and become independent. The first most important issue to target is how we could decrease the quantity of carbon dioxide being polluted into the atmosphere to decrease the effects on poor people and people that depend on the resources of earth to…

The journal article “Fair Chore Division for Climate Change”, written by Martino Traxler, discusses why we should care about global climate change and what we should do about it. The article talks about fair division of chores among nations to stop climate change due to global warming. Responsibility and fair allocation will resolve the problem. Fair chore division includes paying or contributing on an equal per capita basis proportion to relative burdensomeness is divided among the nations into shares. Traxler also mentions that allocation according to a fair chore division into equally burdensome shares best promote international cooperation in dealing with climate change. Traxler’s main points seem reasonable except for the part where Traxler propose that everyone should limit their harmful emissions; secondly, are humans even doing enough to cause global warming.…

Americans have a need to travel far and to do so quickly. Because of this we use automobiles and these in turn present a host of environmentally unfreindly issues. The tapping of oil is a mar on the environment. The refining of the oil into gas and safe oil for auto's creates smog. The transportation of the materials in order to distribute them creates smog through the use of tires and exhaust creates more environmental problems. The use of electricity to distribute the fuel is not environmentally freindly and the use of the gas once distributed is not friendly.…

Energy is very important, especially for the people of the United States. It has become an integral part of our lives and we have grown dependent on it. Therein lies the problem, however, because the more we use it, the less there is. We have to find alternative forms of energy before it is gone and we are left high and dry. Not only is our sources decreasing, it is also polluting our beautiful world. Reducing the use of energy and finding alternatives is our only choice when considering the future of America. Cheap gas may sound great right now but once it is gone, it is gone for good. We cannot be selfish and only think of the now, we must look to the future and preserve our resources so that our grandkids will have a good life. We have made…

First, we have global warming, which is a problem that must be solved as soon as possible. Some ignorant people think that it won’t happen but we are actually living this situation right now, every single day. According to some NASA studies, since 1950, the average temperature has climbed 1.4Fahrenheit degrees around the world. As a consequence of this fact, an Arctic ice area, which was bigger than the United States, has melted this year! Another evidence of global warning is that the frequency and number of hurricanes and earthquakes around the world has increased the last years. The irony of all this is that even though we do realize what is happening; even though we know that we are destroying our planet, we are still polluting, wasting and damaging.…

We as humans can do our part personally to contribute in energy conservation and helping to sustain the environment through using more energy efficient appliances which can be a bit costly at first but will save energy, the environment, and ourselves money in the long run. We as consumers can purchase compact fluorescent light bulbs that use less energy and last longer than incandescent light bulbs. And the next time you’re looking to purchase a new vehicle that is fuel efficient like a hybrid car which combines gasoline engines and electric motors. I think knowledge is power when it comes to each person doing their part so feel free to engage in more research on…

The problem with global warming is that when CO2 and other heat-trapping emissions are released into the air, they act like a blanket, holding heat in our atmosphere and warming the planet. Overloading our atmosphere with carbon has far-reaching effects for people all around the world, including rising sea levels, increasing wildfires, more extreme weather, deadly heat waves, and more severe droughts ("Global Warming", 2013). Human activity is the biggest contributor to global warming, for example when we use fossil fuel we are releasing CO2 into the air from our vehicles and when we use it to generate electricity, CO2 can also be released when we cause deforestation. According to Gale (2013), “Crowded landfills, polluted water, and poor air quality are just a few of the environmental problems that affect both industrial and developing nations. Perhaps less obvious but no less ominous a threat to the environment is the general increase in temperatures worldwide and the resulting climate changes. This phenomenon, known as global warming, could have serious negative effects on humans and all other living things on Earth. Global warming is a complex problem, and governments have had great difficulty deciding how to…
