The Hunger Games
In the science fiction book, “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins, Katniss Everdeen, the main protagonist of the story, has to face many difficulties in her life such as the death of her father. As well as living in one of the poorest regions called District 12 in the country of Panem. Owing to the tragic death of her father she takes on a big responsibility and cares for her mother and sister Prim. Every year the capitol of Panem has a ceremony called the Hunger Games where, two tributes a boy and a girl of each district are picked randomly and fight to the death. Only one can win. Unfortunately Katniss’s sister Prim was chosen but Katniss takes her place for the Hunger Games and her adventure then begins.
I truly loved this book. It kept me wanting to read more and more. The action throughout the book really kept me entertained. In each breathtaking moment of the book I could envision everything that was happening. I thoroughly recommend this book, it will never bore you.
All throughout the book the message is if you try hard enough you can succeed. In the Hunger Games Katniss’s transformation is apparent from the beginning to end. I undoubtedly admire this amazing book it really captures how much family, loyalty and friendship are crucial factors of life.
In one point of the book Katniss is put in a risky situation and must stay up in a tree during the game; because other district teams were trying to kill her, so climbing down was not an option. Soon enough though Katniss gets help from a little girl called Rue from District 11. She warns her of a tracker jacker hive that had been hanging around the tree she was on. Tracker jacker hives are a group of deadly wasps that cause hallucinations and sometimes even death. As the night passes Katniss starts to get famished; she then makes a life or death decision to throw the hive to the districts so she wont have to stay up on the tree and starve to death.
