The III Effect Of The Five Paragraph Report By Nunnally
The III Effect of the Five Paragraph Theme …show more content…
I agree with Nunnally because if teachers provide students an format on how they want the essay to be written, students will be focusing more on trying to brainstorm about three ideas than the actual essay itself. As some teachers suggest, it’s not about how lengthy the essay is, it’s about the quality of the paper. So there’s no point in putting a number to how many paragraphs should be in an essay since students are being restrained from what they want to put into their essay. Anyone can make an essay longer by adding in unnecessary information, however a deserving grade is given to students who write their paper thoroughly and thoughtfully than thinking about if it’s too short. As I was saying, demanding students to formulate their essays in the FPT is regulating their writing because at times you may have a lot to say about one topic and not as much for another given topic. We all have certain topics that we have more knowledge about and other ones where we may not know as much about. Teachers expect FPT essay, which puts students in pressure and may not perform their best. All in all, writers should write how they want to without feeling like it’s too much or too less for teachers. Teachers should be teaching students what they will need in the future. Just because the FPT has been taught for untold years is

Dr. Archibald Hart tackles the difficult subject of anxiety. Not only does he go into deep discussions about anxiety, but also he also covers the seemingly never ending causes and cures for many of the varying problems and issues that arise from anxiety. Like many of the authors previously discussed in this section, Dr. Hart does not believe that medication is the answer to solving these life problems. Even though medications do help and aid in the process, a lifestyle change is critical and necessary in order to overcome anxiety and the many other difficulties directly associated with anxiety.…

When I was in the sixth grade, I learned about the process of writing 5-paragraph essays and their format in my reading class with Mr. Chang. He taught me all I needed to know, and made my life much more difficult as a sixth grader because now I actually had a due date, I had to follow the format or else, I’d get a lower grade which was frustrating, but it is now worth it because I have become a better writing, so thank you Mr. Chang. Mr. Chang, my reading teacher, introduced us to 5-paragraph essays, we started this process after reading The Bridge to Terabithia, sad novel by the way. I enjoyed reading the book because I was fascinated with the events that made the book what it was, as far as I know, the book has now been banned because of the references it makes to things like witchcraft and atheism as well as using a lot of profanity, but as a matured child you tend to overlook that.…

Based on my experience of writing, writing a five paragraph essay was the key success of writing the perfect essay. But in the essay “Breaking the Five-Paragraph Theme Barrier” by Thomas Nunnally, we are told that writing a five paragraph essay was to help “ learn the principles of effective composition, principles that can be applied to any writing task, not to master a single format that will answer all their writing needs.” (70-71) In other words, learning to write in this format helped students understand the different elements in an essay such as transition sentences and a thesis statement. These elements could also be applied to other styles of writings too, but most students do not realize that, since they are focused on following the…

As well as when it’s necessary to write a certain type of essay and when it’s not. I am unsure on what kinds of essays we will be going over during the duration of this semester but by the end of it, I am assuming we will be able to know how to write a narrative, argumentative, research, comparison, persuasive, descriptive and cause and effect essay. I am sure we will know the difference between all of the essays, know when it is the most appropriate time to use them and understand the steps it takes to write the particular type of essay. I expect to learn about the different essays in this class because I believe it will allow me to know which type of writing style I will need to use during situations in the future, like developing a resume for a future…

Students must provide responses in essay form to each of these questions or “statements of competence (always starting with 1.1). The recommended word count for each essay is 200 words. Students do not need to worry if they exceed this word count or if they go under it by a few words on a few questions. It is important that a student does not “fixate” on word counts, but, rather that he or she focuses on the quality of their responses. Realistically, essays should not fall under the recommended word count too often or by too much when students conduct thorough research and provide satisfactory evidence of competence.…

Throughout my English writing journey I was able to learn many different techniques different teachers or professors in an essay. Since middle school, I remember my English teacher teaching me how to write an essay and the rule towards it. She would always never use “In this essay, I will be talking about” well every teacher I had kept reminding me not to do that. Over the years new methods of a standard essay will be taught. The standard essay would be MLA, Times New Roman, 12 pt, double spaced, 5 paragraphs, an introduction and conclusion. As years went by, and I got older. My teachers would expect me to have a thesis statement, and three main points. That would be what I had difficulty. As a native Spanish speaker, and with English being…
