Summary of Article Dr. Archibald Hart tackles the difficult subject of anxiety. Not only does he go into deep discussions about anxiety, but also he also covers the seemingly never ending causes and cures for many of the varying problems and issues that arise from anxiety. Like many of the authors previously discussed in this section, Dr. Hart does not believe that medication is the answer to solving these life problems. Even though medications do help and aid in the process, a lifestyle change is critical and necessary in order to overcome anxiety and the many other difficulties directly associated with anxiety. He educates the reader on the intricate details of GABA, how the reader can recognize the signs and symptoms and then transitions into strategies of how to overcome panic, stress and the other symptoms associated with anxiety. One of the main conclusions that Hart (1999) comes to is that with the right level of education and awareness, a person can recognize the beginning of a panic attack or some sort anxiety disorder in time, and then the problem can be reversed with the right mindset, attitude and a cognizant decision to make the necessary changes in their …show more content…
He did it in such a way that did not make the reader feel inferior or stupid; however, he was able to create a language and an explanation that promoted the ability to learn and understand a new topic with the confidence to discuss it with others. Another strength was his ability promote confidence that the reader can and will be able to overcome anxiety and those symptoms that are encapsulated within that struggle. Hart (1999) tells the reader over and over again that they need to make the conscience decision to act and make the necessary lifestyle change that will enable them to succeed. God is on our side and we need to use Him to help. Hart (1999) says we can defeat this without the use or overuse (in some cases) of psychotropic medications to win the battle over
