Topic: Anxiety
Purpose: To inform my audience about Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
Thesis Statement: I will tell you what (GAD) Generalized Anxiety Disorder is, how many people have it, and suggested treatments.
Introduction:
Attention Gaining Device: Do you lie awake at night worrying about things you can’t control? Maybe during the day you worry about things that happened yesterday, or last week, or last year. Excessive worrying about things you can’t control is a reality for 6.8 million adults. That number may not seem high, but that is 3.1% of the U.S. population.
Credibility: I suffer from General Anxiety disorder and I have most of my life. However, I was not diagnosed until 7 years ago.

Seeing a doctor or therapist is the first step you should take.
A. There are many types of medications prescribed to treat GAD
B. Different types of therapy such as CBT, Cognitive Behavioral Treatment have been successful
1. CBT targets thoughts, symptoms, and behaviors, teaching you different ways to adjust and cope.
C. There are also successful holistic approaches such as meditation, exercise, and natural remedies, such as herbs and essential oils.
